Constructed in September 2002 and commissioned in 2004, Kapsara is unique in that it is the smallest factory with one line in the entire KTDA-managed factories, but the first one to be automated in all KTDA factories. The Kapsara catchment area is estimated to be 464 hectares with approximately 4.5million tea bushes with an average production of 0.82 kilograms per bush. The factory lies on a 20-acre piece of land.

Our company profile


WHEN
Construction of Kapsara Tea Factory commenced on September 2002. The Factory was later commissioned on 11th May, 2004 before being officially opened by H.E the late President Hon Mwai Kibaki on 16th April, 2005.

WHERE
Kapsara Tea Factory is situated in Trans Nzoia County, Kaplamai Division, Makutano Location, Kapsara sub- Location in Cherangany constituency. The Kapsara catchment covers Trans-Nzoia East, Trans-Nzoia West, Marakwet, Mt. Elgon and West Pokot Districts. It is 420 kilometers, North West of Nairobi at an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level.
The factory is located on the windward slopes of the Cherangany Hills, off the main Kitale – Lodwar road.

Kapsara Tea Factory through the Chemuka Power Company, is set to jointly develop the Taunet and Kapolet small hydro-power projects, in collaboration with Chebut and Mudete tea factories. .
